Finest Sweets at Dave’s Beanery Cafe

Much of our fond memories involve desserts. They are quintessentially a staple in every major event of our lives – Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries… most of which are very special to us and often shared with loved ones. In the creative process of baking a cake, it is simply not enough that cakes and desserts look appealing but most importantly delicious, delicate, and soft yet has that certain excellence in texture and quality – something that some bakeshops tend to forget. Certainly not the case for Dave’s Beanery Café, they embody the term homemade.
Ms. Jaireen – the owner and chef – loved cooking and baking during her growing up years, along with her two sisters who are chefs in America and Jakarta, with one of them who owns a restaurant in Manila called “Poco Deli”, said to be a favorite of our very own President Aquino and was recently featured in Kris Aquino’s Talk Show. Though Ms. Jaireen originally took up Interior Design and practiced her craft in Singapore, she never stopped her love for cooking. Now that she has settled down, prior to opening her café, she usually bakes only when she’s in the mood, inviting friends over for cake and coffee. Sure enough her friends expressed their adoration for her cooking that they urged and encouraged Ms. Jai to let everyone get a taste of her talent – and we’re so thankful she did! Upon entering the café situated at The Promenade building along Kauswagan Highway right beside Save More, Cagayan de Oro, one can already get a whiff of the sweet aroma of coffee beans displayed around the café and with its wooden décor and interior one instantly feels comfy and cozy.
The café boasts of high quality desserts and food that are homemade with ingredients that are non-commercialized, has no preservatives, additives, coloring, and definitely no vetsin. During the food tasting, every dessert eaten was true to its name, particularly the star of them all, the Double Trouble Truffle Cake; perchance the first in CdeO, it has a certain sweetness that is not too intense, which caught us by surprise because of its mouthwateringly sweet appearance and actual truffles on top of the cake that are meticulously made for an hour and a half. Another dessert surely worth sinking your teeth into is the Chocolate Almond Pie. Its crust made with fine crushed biscuits, spread with creamy chocolate and almonds on top – it would go lovely with a hot cup of Dave’s Beanery Café’s classic ‘Pour Over’ coffee with your personal choice of beans – a traditional way of preparing coffee, to experience is simply a must.
Fret not if you wish to have dinner first and dessert later as Dave’s Beanery Café also offers a variety of rice dishes such as the classic pinoy dish, Tapa with Eggs and homemade pizzas like Pizza al Prosciutto – tastes unlike any other! Other desserts worth taking note, especially when planning those big events and birthdays, are their Chocolate Overload Cake, Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Cake, Carrot Cake, and Oreocolate (Oreo, Coffee, and Chocolate) Cake. Coming soon is a Japanese style of making coffee using a machine with two chambers where vapor pressure and vacuum produce coffee – sounds like something coffee addicts should look forward to!
So if you desire quality and taste-y treats that your family and relatives will love, check out Dave’s Beanery Café, their confections will definitely add more smiles and fun memories during your most precious milestones in life.
