Lansad 2016: A Photo Exhibit That Will Feature the Triumph of Sumilao Farmers

September 16, 2016 by Mr. Prince Price

The Development Communication Department of Xavier University photography class brings about once again their annual photography exhibit, “Lansad 2016”.

Featured on this exhibit will be the photographs taken by the third year Development Communication students after their immersion in Sumilao, Bukidnon at the Activity Centrio of Centrio Mall this September 26 (Monday 4:30PM) to 29, 2016 (Thursday).

The Story: “The Sumilao farmers fought, non-violently, for more than two decades to get their land as part of agrarian reform programs. Firstly they staged a 28 day hunger strike in front of government reform offices. Ten years later they marched for 1700 kilometres from Bukidnon to Manila to bring public pressure to bear on government. A year later the cooperative got its land.”

Thus the theme for this year, “Sumilao: Footprints to Triumph”.

Live acoustic performances and light snacks will be served in the duration of the event. For inquiries, you may send them an e-mail at [email protected] or call Marvin Pamisa at 0926-598-6262. See you!
